Meeting Minutes - January 17, 2010

Attendees: Deanna Wood, Mary Wright, Nancy Ferro, Caryl Gordon, Teri

Deanna gave an overview of the executive committee meeting in Austin
last weekend. We mainly talked about defining the roles of the
individual committees.


The communications committee is sponsoring a logo competition for the
Texas Wax logo. The call for entries will be released soon.


We have an exhibition opportunity that Peggy Epner found at the
PFAMily Arts Center in Plano.

artists handle all sales - 25% donation to the center is suggested

we will share expenses for the marketing materials and bring food to
the reception

the artwork must be appropriate for children

deadline to submit images: January 25
notification by January 27

deliver work Jan 31 or Feb 1

work can be either new or exhibited in prior Texas Wax exhibits

email up to 5 images to Peggy Epner -
(preferably 6" high at the best resolution possible)

Plano Art Centre - Deanna is still trying to get information from them
on the particulars, but the dates of the show are April 9 - May 8.

The fee for the show will come to around $300 and will be split among
the participants. We decided to find a juror for the show and pay him
or her from $100-150. Deanna will send out more information soon.


Deanna shared information about the Encaustic Conference in June.
Deanna, Cheryl McClure, and Carolyn Fox Hearne are planning to go from
the Dallas group.

Deanna mentioned that there are some warming trays available that are
a good alternative to pancake griddles because they use less
electricity. It would work for encaustic monotypes as well:

Caryl has work at the Torpedo Factory Target Galley in Alexandria ,Va.
and the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato, CA.

Nancy Ferro has work at the Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas and
will have work in a show at Collin College in Plano.
